Foundation Celebrates Anniversary and Plans For Future
What a 25th anniversary year! Mission Healthcare Foundation celebrated its silver anniversary in grand style during FY 10 that ended September 30. Several milestones were reached during this special year. At its annual meeting on November 17th, Foundation President Bruce Thorsen announced these records to the Board of Trustees:
Reached $100 million in contributions since 1985 (April)
Received the most new gifts and grants ever-- $12.7 million
Received the largest gift in Foundation history-- $5 million
Held three successful special events netting over $460,000
The Chairmanship of the Foundation also changed hands at the annual meeting as Chris Young, chair for the past two years, gave the gavel to W. Leon Elliston, M.D. Also elected were Bonnie Spradling, vice chair, John Kimberly, Secretary,
Martha Boyd, Treasurer and Bruce Thorsen, President, who celebrated his twentieth year in this position. New trustees elected were Robbie Russell, Wachovia-Wells Fargo; Ronald Freeman, Ingles Markets and Neal Hanks, Beverly-Hanks Realtors.
